Implant dentistry at Revitalise Dental Centre

Dental implant treatment is most commonly used to replace missing teeth and is considered the best and most efficient way to create a natural look combined with stability, often providing a long-term solution.

Placing dental implants is a straightforward and routine procedure; the implant comprises an artificial tooth root, which is made from titanium and placed in the gum, and a ceramic crown which replicates your original tooth and is as close to the real thing as possible.

Whether you need just one or multiple dental implants, you‘ll soon feel the confidence to talk, eat, and smile normally without a second thought.

During your FREE, in-practice consultation with your personal Revitalise practitioner, we will discuss the treatment options, the costs and the aftercare involved and will help you to decide what would best suit you and your lifestyle. From here, we’ll provide you with a personalised treatment plan to help you best achieve your smile goals.

Benefits of dental implants in Cornwall

There are many benefits of getting dental implants, including:

  • They look and feel like natural teeth
  • They offer a long-term, lowmaintenance solution for replacing missing teeth
  • They can be used to replace a single tooth or several missing teeth

Sufficient bone density of the jaw is required for dental implants to be successful, without it the jaw will not be able to support the implant. Patients who have experienced bone loss will still be able to receive the treatment, however, an additional procedure, such as a bone graft or sinus lift, may need to be completed beforehand to strengthen the jaw bone.

With the advances in modern technology, dental implants are suitable for almost all patients.

However, just like your adult teeth, they will last as long as you care for them. You will need to look after your dental implants the same way you would your natural teeth.

You may find certain areas difficult to clean to begin with. Our dental hygienist will support you with techniques and educate you on how to maintain your oral health to its optimum level.

Dental Implant FAQs

In most cases, anyone with good oral hygiene and sufficient bone levels can get dental implants.

However, there are several situations where another treatment option might be more effective.

For dental implants to be successful, it’s important that the density and volume of the bone are sufficient to support the implants, and that the surrounding teeth are in good condition.

Dental implants also aren’t a suitable option for those who:

  • Have advanced gum disease
  • Have uncontrolled diabetes
  • Smoke, vape or chew tobacco
  • Drink heavily
  • Have had radiotherapy in or around the jaw

Yes, we have a range of treatment options available which we use to support dentures.

Some people have difficulty wearing and keeping their dentures securely in place, resulting in a poor user experience.

Implants can resolve this problem providing incredible security and comfort. Both removable implant dentures and fixed dentures can also provide further security, and allow you to have confidence in your smile.

No, you will not feel any pain during the procedure, it will just be slightly uncomfortable. You may experience some swelling and possible bruising after the procedure, but this will pass quickly and does not happen to everyone.

You will look after your replacement teeth the same way you would your natural teeth.

Neglecting the cleaning of them can result in bad breath and a build-up of plaque and biofilm, leading to further problems later down the line.

You might find certain areas difficult to clean at first, but our dental hygienist will support you and provide all the aftercare advice you need to maintain healthy teeth.

Although dental implants might seem to come with a hefty price tag, the investment outweighs the cost in improving one’s quality of life, function, confidence, and appearance. At Revitalise we will only recommend dental implants if we feel they are the best treatment option.

Dental implants are designed to be a permanent solution to tooth loss, meaning they can last 2030 years or more. However, there are a few factors that can affect their longevity, including:

  • Oral health – Looking after your dental implants is just as important as looking after your natural teeth, and for the implant to successfully fuse and stay fused to your jawbone, you’ll need to ensure that your gums are in good condition.
  • Lifestyle choices – Excessive smoking, heavy drinking, recreational drug use. These are all things that can affect the longevity of your dental implants, so consider making some changes to your routine to ensure your new smile lasts as long as possible.
  • Injury or damage – There are many things that can cause damage to your dental implant crowns, from eating chewy or sticky foods and biting down on hard, brittle foods and objects like pen lids and facial injuries. So, make sure to steer clear of these things, and take a trip to the dentist as soon as possible if an injury has knocked your dental implants loose for the best chance of repair.

The entire process of placing a single dental implant takes 12 weeks. If further surgical procedures are required to enhance implant support, this can extend the treatment period up to one year.

Our expert dentist and implantologist, Dr Simon Martin, will explain different options, timings, costings, risks and benefits. There is no obligation at this point and should you wish to proceed, we will present a detailed schedule which we would ask you to read, ask any questions and, all being well, ask you to sign a consent to the treatment.

The routine process follows:

  • CT scans
  • The diagnostic planning of tooth and implant positioning
  • Placement of the implant into your jaw
  • Healing and osseointegration
  • Fitting your new artificial teeth onto the implant
  • X-Rays

Regular hygiene maintenance

Costs vary with each case, but the price is heavily influenced by the clinical situation

At Revitalise, you can expect a single front tooth restoration to cost £3,500 and back teeth £3,250 with the cost of a complete jaw fixed with implants starting at £16,600.

Although dental implants come with a hefty price tag, the investment outweighs the cost of improving one’s quality of life, function, confidence, and appearance.

At Revitalise we will only recommend dental implants if we feel they are the best treatment option.

The answer is no.

We will never leave you with a gap, and it is possible to have an implant placed immediately after a tooth has been extracted. However, in some cases, the gum will need time to heal before we can proceed with inserting the implant.

Dental implants are a routine procedure carried out under local anaesthesia. Some patients prefer to have conscious sedation to help alleviate anxiety before and during treatment.

If you’re nervous about coming in for your treatment, let a member of our team know and we’ll do everything we can to make your visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

In some cases, yes. When there is insufficient bone volume to support dental implants, bone grafting will ensure the treatment can be achieved successfully.

That said, we can now use “copaSKY” implants, which require less bone volume so if you have ever been told you don’t have enough bone, this is the ideal option for you. “copaSKY” implants, which require less bone volume so if you have ever been told you don’t have enough bone.
